The alignment and stability of the knee should be normal or corrected at the time of the surgery. Allografts and meniscal scaffolds are the two most prominent treatments with encouraging results. The treatment, due to its demanding nature, shall be performed by specialist knee surgeons. <\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Patients belong to one or more of the following categories can benefit largely from meniscal replacement procedure:<\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul><li>Younger Patient (Age &lt; 50)<\/li><li>Previous total or subtotal meniscectomy<\/li><li>Moderate to severe pain on activity<\/li><li>Well aligned (or combined with osteotomy)<\/li><li>Stable joint (or combined with ACL reconstruction)<\/li><li>Chondral grade ICRS II-III<\/li><\/ul>\n\n\n\n<p>The expected outcomes, subsequent to a successful operation, include:<\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul><li>Free of symptoms in the patients\u2019 daily activities<\/li><li>No swelling or pain<\/li><li>Engagements in light sport can be a bonus<\/li><li>Articular surface protection<\/li><li>Joint stability<\/li><li>\u2018More age appropriate for arthroplasty\u2019<\/li><\/ul>\n\n\n\n<p><\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>Meniscal replacement procedure (transplantation) is considered for the treatment of younger patients who complain for persistent pain in the involved compartment due to extensive destruction and loss of meniscus tissue.
