Regenerative medicine stands by the natural healing in the tissue reconstruction by generating conditions which promote tissue rebuilding. Principal role is actually played by the biological augmentation which represents one of the most advanced strategies to promote tissue regeneration. Orthobiologics may be described as the clinical application of biologically delivered materials engineered to promote the repair or regeneration of musculoskeletal tissue. This biological technology was widely used for soft tissue and cartilage injuries and it was one of the first successful procedures of tissue engineering in orthopaedics. Nowadays, the biological application is more and more commonplace as treatment, to enhance tissue healing and promote regeneration. Thus, several methods have been proposed to reach this target such as platelet-rich plasma (PRP), growth factors, stem cells, fibrin clot and gene therapy.
