Theofylaktos graduated from the Medical School of the Aristotle University of Thessaloniki in 2007. He was then moved to Brussels, Belgium where he received his training in the Orthopaedic Surgery and Traumatology at the Free University of Brussels. Theofylaktos holds a Master Degree in Orthopaedics from the same University, and a Master of Science in Health Policy and Planning from the Open University of Cyprus. In 2018, Theofylaktos obtained his PhD degree from the Aristotle University of Thessaloniki. His research focused on cartilage repair of the knee using stem cells and resulted in numerous scientific publications. Theofylaktos is certified medical doctor in Evidenced Based Medicine from the Free University of Brussels, while he has also obtained a diploma in Good Clinical Practice.

Theofylaktos, after his residency, was specialized in Knee Surgery and Sports Traumatology at the Erasme University Hospital of Brussels, where his is currently working as a knee surgeon. He exercises general orthopedic and traumatology, with a particular focus and expertise on knee surgery and sports traumatology. He performs various knee surgical procedures such as meniscal and cartilage repair, ligament reconstruction, meniscal transplantation, biological treatments osteotomy and knee arthroplasty, to name a few.

Theofylaktos participates in the training program of medical students at the Free University of Brussels as course director and supervisor of dissertations. Since 2016 he is also responsible for the Residents Training Program of the Orthopaedic and Traumatology Department of the Erasme University Hospital.

Theofylaktos has co-authored various scientific publications in reputable academic journals and book series. He keeps abreast of related research and contributes actively to the field by serving as reviewer for well-known journals. Theofylaktos actively participates in scientific meetings either as invited speaker or with podium presentations. He is the co-chairman of the “All you need to know” Annual International Knee Symposium (www.allyouneedtoknow.be). He also serves as instructor in seminars for orthopaedic surgeons.

Theofylaktos is member of the following international scientific societies: International Society of Arthroscopy, Knee Surgery and Orthopaedic Sports Medicine (ISAKOS), International Cartilage Repair Society (ICRS), European Society of Sports Traumatology, Knee Surgery and Arthroscopy (ESSKA), European Knee Associates (EKA) and of the following national societies: Société Royale Belge de Chirurgie Orthopédique et de Traumatologie (SORBCOT), Hellenic Association of Arthroscopy, Knee Surgery and Sports Traumatology (ΕΑΕ) and Orthopaedic & Traumatologic Association of Macedonia and Thrace (OTEMATH).
